Type a word or phrase and check whether it’s a palindrome.
Check if it’s a palindrome
A palindrome is a word or phrase that reads the same left-to-right and right-to-left. This tool checks it ignoring spaces, punctuation and accents, and case-insensitively.
Examples
- Words: racecar, radar, level.
- Phrases: A man, a plan, a canal: Panama, Was it a car or a cat I saw?
How it’s checked
The text is normalised (lowercase, no accents or spaces) and compared with its reverse; if they match, it’s a palindrome.
Frequently asked questions
Do spaces and accents count? No: they’re ignored so phrase palindromes are recognised.
What about numbers? They work too: 12321 is a numeric palindrome.
